A Syrian Policy with No Teeth Will Be Ridiculed

Editorial, The Washington Post | April 26, 2010

What has been lacking in the US's Syrian strategy are tangible steps, such as economic sanctions, that put pressure on Dictator Bashar Al-Assad to end his collaboration with Iran and Hezbollah.++ Assad has reacted to special envoys to Syria by "publicly ridiculing the US's diplomatic initiative."++ Mr. Assad is aware of the political pressures from the US but "...he sees no need to listen."++ Obama's toothless policy has given Mr. Assad carte blanche to assist America's enemies, militants and terrorists in their assault on US, NATO and EU troops.
