Bombing Iran Would be a Catastrophe for All of Us

Max Hastings, The Guardian | August 4, 2008

His presidency coming to an end, Bush becomes obsessed with his legacy and solving the issue of nuclear Iran is foremost in his mind. ++ If he decides to support Israel in its possible attack on Iran, the economic and political costs would be disastrous: oil prices would soar, terrorist attacks worldwide would follow, and the possibility of any dialogue between Iran and the West would be ruined for years. ++ Iranian government is reckless but not mad: it seems to be gambling that in the end the US would flinch from military action.
