Luis Inącio Lula da Silva, President of Brazil | March 30, 2009
"Brazil's experience shows how developing countries can contribute to combating climate change globally." ++ The country derives 46% of its energy from renewable sources against the global average of 13%. ++ Yet, it is developed countries through their consumption and production methods that are mainly responsible for climate change, whilst developing countries suffer most from its consequences.++ Responsibilites on environmental protection ought to be global but scaled proportionately to the development level of countries.
