The UK Tories will be back in power within 15 months, it seems almost certain. ++ In hand with this, Thatcherism is being revisited 30 years after it began. ++ But too stark a comparison between now and then is foolish. ++ Thatcher was a product of her union-power, high-taxation time; Cameron, on the other hand, fails to reflect the center-left movement taking hold which rightly chastises the “financial ungovernability” of our age. ++ Obama has risen to “the new occasion;” this side of the Atlantic must follow.
