Don't Let China Be a Middle Kingdom Bully

China has gone too far in the debacle surrounding the Nobel Peace Prize award. ++ By throwing its weight around, Beijing coerced sixteen countries into boycotting the ceremony. ++ Considering its recent economic success, China is entitled to act more confidently on the world stage – but recent actions are those of a bully. ++ Unfortunately, the US Congress is shying away from its duty to stand up to human rights abuses in the country. ++ The United States needs to respect China but it does not need to respect its repressive methods.

i think china is doing great with it supposed ''repression'' cos in a system where there is too much free the price is too costly to pay as shown by wikileaks. every country has its own understanding of democracy i the one practice by china is in the right direction.the all hailed democracy practiced in the west is just like a free ride towards the cliff and it is a mater of time where everything will come crushing cos it is evidently that the moral fabric is seriously degraded cos people do all manner of things in the name of things in the name of democracy where even some of these practices are prohibited in the animals kingdom.

Every time there is cross-border criticism of some nation's morality, objections are raised by people who feel the heat either directly or by reflection. Individuals do not have any right to compel others to follow their own moral standards, but individuals do have the power to refuse to associate or cooperate with others. The same goes for nations. The United States and other democratic nations can counsel China to deal with its citizens in a more enlightened way, and, in the end, serious maltreatment of citizens by the government can make the West less willing to cooperate in ways that matter with China.

The problem with China would appear to be similar to the problem that held back democratization in Taiwan for decades after the end of World War II -- the government feels that it cannot trust its own people. Why should that be? In Taiwan the fear was that the ordinary citizens would become captivated by CCP propaganda. What could the fear be today?

If the people are insufficiently trusted, then the people will not sufficiently trust the government.

I do not see where the US can dictate policy to anyone. Obama has issued an order to all police departments that any suspicious persons can be shot with impunity. To my knowledge today the US is the only Marxist Fascist regime issuing such orders?

The US is the most hated barbaric country on the planet. They do it thru deceit, lies,cober-up,distortion,threats,etc.
There is nothing in the USA that any average person from any country logically would want to exchange.
Only desperate, uneducted people flock to the US, but many exit as well once they have some experience of the Marxist Fascist policies towards other Humans.
The US encourages these people to come here so that the US will have more icome from the taxes these paople will be forced to pay.
