France Don't Panic Your Voice Will Be Heard

The argument that France would lose its diplomatic freedom and image of independent power by re-integrating into the military structure of NATO is unfounded. ++ It would assure France a better defense of its national interests. ++ NATO is a consensus based alliance and every country's view is considered in the decision-making process. ++ More importantly, NATO is about to delineate a new strategic concept and France's presence, and thus greater weight, would indeed be a valuable asset.

France was one of the founding members of NATO. The current French President, Mr. Nicolas Sarkozy did a lot for the international community and to improve France's involvement in international matters. Gaullism is not relevent today, the argument that because France wants to improve the European defence power, does not wish to strenghen the Atlantic community's power is unfounded. France's re-integration into the military structure of NATO, as argued in this brief article, would be positive for France.
