He Sounds Too Much Like Bush

Editorial, The New York Times | March 23, 2009

Obama's clear rhetoric on terrorism and the rule of law contrast his stance on state secrets and detainees with that of the previous administration. ++ President Obama ordered Guantanamo's closure and abolished the "enemy combatant" terminology, but his remarks that the war on terror is "global" and has the world as its battlefield "sound a bit too close for comfort to the Bush team's benighted ideas." ++ President Obama needs to "ensur[e] that American policy respects the limits so clearly laid out by the nation's laws and Constitution."
