No Platform for Hate Preachers

Christian Geyer, Frankfurter Allgemeine (in German) | February 6, 2009

Chancellor Merkel was right to demand answers from the Vatican on Bishop Williamson and the Holocaust. ++ The Holy See has since declared that Williamson "must distance himself publicly" from Holocaust-denial. ++ This ensures a minimum: that Catholic bishops do not spread antisemitism after hours. ++ The states' relationship to religious hate-mongers should be the same, whether Christian or Islamic. ++ Now the Vatican must clarify its relations with the Society of St. Pius X, who want to re-establish a theocratic state.
