Obama's Foreign Policy Needs an Update
Jackson Diehl, The Washington Post | November 22, 2010
President Obama has committed much of the domestic capital to pushing a new nuclear arms control treaty with Russia with a purpose of containing rogue states like Iran and North Korea. ++ He has remained focused on driving the strategies on nuclear disarmament and Israeli settlements. ++ However, he has lacked to present a strategy lest an independent Palestinian state is created and where the main concern would be to stop the West Bank becoming an Iranian base. ++ Thus, the sooner Obama reappraises his Foreign Policy, the better.

In regards to Israel/Palestine, gifting war planes to Netanyahu to save (or stall) the Knesset conservatives' vision of a "Greater Israel" (I don't think it died in them) is no way to broker a settlement freeze. In regards to an Iranian proxy base in a Palestinian state, there needs to be some serious maneuvering by the Egyptians, Saudis and Jordanians, with the help of the U.S., to help prevent that from happening. Interestingly enough, the Egyptians may have the most to fear from an Iranian proxy base near their borders. Not only were they rivals before the Islamic Revolution, but the growing problems the Muslim Brotherhood is causing the Mubarak (administration? not really after almost 30 years) regime may grant even more cooperation with moderate Fatah, Israeli and American diplomats and policy makers.
Good read, though after finishing it, all the air left my lungs, as if I was punched. I'm sure that was meant to happen. Cheers.
