Placing Hopes in Technology

The annual Science Congress 2009 has taken place in India, following a tradition which started in 1967 and projected technology as the means through which to achieve greater ‘'social, gender and economic equality.'' ++ Indeed, in the northeast region of India, where rich bio-resource exploitation is impaired by poverty and unemployment, development may depend on technological progress. ++ Investing in agricultural universities may be the solution to the large ecological problems -- uranium mining, deforestation -- the region is facing.
