The Bipartisan Vision of a Nuke Free World

John Kerry, US senator for Massachusetts | June 26, 2008

Working towards a nuclear free world is a necessity now that the cold war is over. ++ Both presidential candidates have announced they would commit the US to this goal. ++ The next president should lead the freeze on the production of material for nuclear weapons and work closely with Congress and allies to strengthen the international non-proliferation regime. ++ A nuclear fuel bank, which would make reasonably priced nuclear fuel available, would significantly increase leverage over rogue states refusing to cooperate.

I like this comment! What's this?
Hope the next President of the US can give this subject the attention it deserves without using crude expressions like the axis-of-evil etc. Such rhetoric fooled some at home but the rest of the world, generally, reamined sceptical. Time has indictaed that such neo-con led policy was harnful for all. While the US carries the Albatross of having got killed about 2 million people in Iraq/ afghanistan during 'occupation', projected as 'democracy', besides the total destruction of those countries, uncertainty haunts all capitals.
Unfortunately for these countries, the resistnce/ extremists are not relenting in their fight and the peace in area is a mess. The US has suffered as in now again proved emphatically by the Supreme Court judgment on 'enemy combatants'. Her worldwide loss of credibility, goodwill and power is another dagerous chapter. Awful precedents have been set and they can always boomerang, particularly in the case of Afghans.
