The Cost of Change

Muqtedar Khan, University of Delaware | February 16, 2009

A lot has happened recently, but the event which still steals the thunder is the election of President Obama and the new foreign policy he has designed for the US. ++ The Munich Security Conference offers confirmation; Biden came to Europe and promised that the US will “listen” and “engage” Europe and also attempt to improve relations with Russia. ++ But in promising a change of tactics, Obama remains oblivious to the fact that to secure real change he “needs to revisit the goals of US foreign policy vis-à-vis its nemeses, not just its tactics.”
