Highlights From the First Half of 2012

Editorial Team: We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your excellent contributions and to remind you of the standout achievements of our open think tank from the first half of the year. Your ideas are making an impact, and we look forward to your contributions for the rest of 2012.

A look back at some of the highlights from the first half of 2012:

"Your Ideas, Your NATO" Competition

The first half of the year was marked by the successful completion of our "Your Ideas, Your NATO" competition. The competition produced a successful event here in Berlin as well as feedback from decision makers.

Q&A with NATO's James Apparthurai

We had our biggest Q&A ever with James Appathurai, NATO's Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy. His division is responsible for the Alliance's partnership frameworks and external relations. Below are links to the four part video Q&A with Mr. Appathurai, where he answered 20 questions from atlantic-community.org members.

Atlantic Memos

So far this year, we have produced five Atlantic Memos with concrete policy recommendations.

Expert Survey

Joerg Wolf, atlantic-community.org's editor-in-chief, took part in a survey from the Atlantic Council and Foreign Policy Magazine. The survey focused on NATO's future. He explained why he answered the survey the way he did: Accepting Our Limits Makes for a Stronger Alliance

How You Can Get Involved at Atlantic-Community.org

Please continue to engage in the debates and contribute op-eds on the most important challenges that Europe and North America face. Op-eds only need to be 500 - 700 words long and contain a clear thesis with policy recommendations. By doing so, you will be making your voices heard in the foreign policy discourse. Here is some advice on writing for our open think tank.

Last but not least, we would be extremely grateful if you could extend invitations to your friends and colleagues to join atlantic-community.org. Our community has now grown to over 7,000 members and with your help, we hope to see it expand even further. As you know, we provide extensive opportunities for networking, career development, and debate as well as concrete opportunities to influence decision-makers.
