Africa Needs a Bold Leadership to Deal with Crises

Graca Machel, The Independant | June 12, 2009

The economic crisis affects Africa disproportionably - with climate change - it imperils hard-won progress. ++ Bold, focused leadership is the solution. ++ Africa's leaders need to work with local farmers and international partners to accelerate a green revolution. ++ Infrastructure needs to be built to improve trade. ++ Corruption, costing the people $150 billion, needs to be eradicated. ++ A strong leader is vital to negotiate a fair deal for natural resources. ++ Africa's sustainable development will depend on the hard work, focus and courage of its leaders.
