EU Finance: France Gets to Tell Germany Off
Cerstin Gammelin, Sueddeutsche (in German) | July 14, 2010
The finance ministers of the euro zone “sentenced” French Minister Lagarde to pass a verdict on Germany’s economic course. ++ While it is customary that one EU country assess the economic policy of another, this assignment is not void of a certain “sense of irony… which the finance ministers of the Euro countries have not been known for up to now.” ++ Lagarde is well known for her criticism of Germany exporting too much and consuming too little. ++ The upcoming report is seen as a stress test for Franco-German relations.
