Lessons to Be Learned from the Midterm Elections

Editorial, The New York Times | November 4, 2010

The US midterm elections have brought a huge victory to the Republicans. ++ However, they also carry a lesson for both Democrats and Republicans. ++ Representing the Democrats, President Obama now needs to come up with a strong projection of his party’s policies and its successes achieved so far. ++ For Republicans, the now is the time to get started with the real business of fulfilling their commitments. ++ However, for both parties, the public message is clear: Gamesmanship is no longer going to work.

I like this comment! What's this?
The results of this election weren't surprising. Overall, I believe the public is very easily manipulated and these results for me support that belief. Additionally, our economy is still lagging and people are mad. People want someone to blame and the democrats were an easy target for blame in this situation. What happened this year in the midterm elections happened to Clinton during his first term also. What Clinton did was change his whole strategy and approach to his Presidency and I believe Obama will have to do the same.
