Politics of Fear are Bad News for Obama

Due to the financial crisis, the attack on the US embassy in Yemen, and the latest tropical storms, the tone of the US presidential campaign has become nervous and angst-ridden. ++ Even if people who consider the economy to be the most important reason to vote for Obama, there is a "deeper politics of fear that runs against Obama." ++ While Obama offers a dream of how the world could be, McCain and Palin symbolize an older, stronger, go-it-alone US. ++ So if America is ruled by fear, McCain's chances to win the election rise.
