Relations With Iran Coming to a Head

David Miliband, British Foreign Secretary | June 25, 2008

Britain’s foreign secretary argues that if the new “dual-track approach” regarding Iran’s nuclear aspirations fails, it is the Iranian’s own fault. ++ Convinced that the region and the world need a cooperative, sanction-free Iran, the West is offering generous incentives, including assistance for a civilian-based nuclear energy program, in return for Iran’s transparency. ++ As Iran’s leaders nationalize the debate, the international community is assuring everyone involved that non-proliferation and not regime change is the ultimate goal.

I like this comment! What's this?
One can't take Miliband' words at face value. More so if he claims that the the objective is no-proliferation and not regime-change. While it is a very noble intent, unfortunately Uk can't take the final decision. As per past practice, it would issue some sensible statements and then try and go along if washington decided otherwise. Tony Blair' role in raising the paranoia about Iraqi WMD is a case in point. It is believed in Asia that this was done to cultivate the incumbent-President as well as to gain a niche for British MNC etc in contarcts/ oil.
