Turkey has the potential to serve as a democratic role model for the Muslim world. ++ To meet these expecations Prime-Minister Erdogan should tone down his harsh anti-Israeli rhetoric in order to promote stability in the region. ++ Using its economic and diplomatic leverage, Turkey should cooperate with the United States and promote democracy in the Middle East by example. ++ Maintaining a healthy relationship with Israel as well as its Arab partners would place Turkey on the road to becoming a responsible and confident leader.
